Lampshade Writers Circle Meeting 1

Writing is an act of solitude, but writers need not be alone.

Lampshade aims to foster a nurturing collegium of writers, authors, and poets, who meet and read their work out aloud to fellow writers. We hope this will create an atmosphere of positive criticism and informed critique that will support the growth of writers.

There are some basic  rules to be followed:

0. Share your work in advance via a google drive.

1. Be kind.

2. Don’t be pompous or cutting in your language. Elevate rather than tear down a budding artist.

3. No self-promotion without prior permission or notice.

4. Keep your review within three minutes.

5. Be unbiased, or at least declare your biases beforehand.

6. Write regularly.

How do we take part in this?

Our first session will be held on November 22, 2020 (Sunday) - 10 am to 12 pm - India Time.

And we have a guest. We invite you to ask her ample questions.

Who is she? Urbi Bhaduri.

Urbi Bhaduri is a writer and editor. Her work, Nalak, was published by Niyogi Books last year. She has worked extensively in the development sector with adolescents and young adults living on the urban margins, facilitating learning on self-exploration, sexuality, entrepreneurial mindsets, and writing poetry and memoir. Through Maps for Lost Writers (which she started during the pandemic), she offers deep listening, encouragement and wayfinding to (people identifying as) women who long to express themselves through the written word, but feel inadequate, overwhelmed, or like a sham.
