Lampshade Writers Circle - 01 (Launch and Details)

Lampshade Writers Circle was launched on 22-November-2020 at 10 am on Zoom. Meeting writers on a Sunday morning is a beautiful experience (Wish we could meet in person!).

Our participants were: Raghavendra Peri, Rahul Reddy, Divya M, Urvi, Gayatri, Vivek Sir, Neeraj SK, Deepa Kiran, Gayatri Ingle and Vikas. A motley of writers and editors who freelance, work in various fields: technology to business to storytelling.

Our guest of honour, Urbi Bhaduri, spoke about writing and our relationship with it. Be it type of a writer: pantser or a planner, or expressing a lot or too little. She emphasized how we should nurture the inner creative while parenting it and bolstering the confidence to write more. We also had discussion on listening a book and reading one. Raghava emphasized on how important listening a book was too.

A few of Urbi's suggestions to write deeply:

1. Instagram: Inspired to Write

2. Books: Tiny Beautiful Things (also: Podcast)

3. The Artist's Way by Julia Cameron

4. Reading Like a Writer by Francine Prose

What was fascinating was that each writer shared their story without any inhibition: Be it Divya's excerpt from her book, Neeraj's piece which he narrated with dramatic effects, Rahul's honest piece and later, his Nazm that enthralled us. They also opted for critique and feedback. Gayatri Ingle surprised us with her poem towards the end. Vikas's story had created a buzz about the style of writing and Neeraj and Deepa discussed the literary quality of his work and delved into the technical aspects of writing.

We wish to host more meetings in future. You can stay updated by encouraging us on our handles:
