The 34th Hyderabad Book Fair by Padmanabha Reddy

Hyderabad, the city of pearls is also rich in literature. This is evident when we look at the likes of Kaloji Narayana Rao, Dasarathi Rangacharya, Dasarathi Krishnamacharya, Vattikota Alwar Swamy, Suravaram Pratapa Reddy, Cingireddy Narayana Reddy and many others.

The city has been organizing a national book fair for 34 years now and this year they have decided to also honor lyricists like Sirivennela Sitarama Sastry. This year's book fair features a plethora of book stalls from all over the country ranging from Telugu, English, Hindi, Sanskrit, and many other languages. Stalls from Delhi, Andhra Pradesh, and Telangana contain an array of books ranging from Fiction, Non-Fiction, Philosophy, Psychology, Sociology, and various entrance preparation books.

This book fair also hosts stalls run by young authors in Telugu Literature like V. Mallikarjun (author of Nalgonda Kathalu, Kagitam Padavalu, Irani Cafe), and Kadali Satyanarayana (author of Kadali Kathalu, and Letters to Love) which gives the readers a wonderful opportunity to meet them and also get a signed copy of their books.

Another element that makes this book fair more appealing is that everyday, there is an event on the stage named "Chindu Yellamma Vedika'' including talks by veteran poets and singers like Goreti Venkanna, Kavi Sammelanam (poets conclave), talks by various personalities on climate change, Vedic Mathematics, Telugu literature, and many others. This provides the audience with a wonderful opportunity to listen to knowledgeable people and also learn a lesson or two for them.

The book fair is a treat for all the book lovers in the city and the cost of entry is just 10 rupees and free for all the students with and Id card. Last day for the book fair is December 28, 2021.
