Hyderabad Literary Festival 2022 by Jennie Kakkad Jobanputra

“Within each of us is a light, awake, encoded in the fibres of our existence. Divine ecstasy is the totality of this marvellous creation experienced in the hearts of humanity.”

Indeed, the quote by Tony Samara is what ignites within, year after year, when the thought of the Hyderabad Literature Festival comes to mind. This year, the same feeling arises with the final countdown of the 12th edition of Hyderabad Literature Festival 2022. Worth mentioning, the British Council will partner with the much-awaited event this year. So, time to celebrate creativity in all its forms, ratios, and dimensions!

Physically, yes, we will not be a part of the same, thanks to the grappling challenges of the pandemic. Still, virtually, the organizing team of HLF have put forth all their hands, efforts, and understanding to deliver a real-time experience for one and all. This, indeed, will allow people from all over to participate and even watch their favourite sessions later.

It will be a fascinating ‘Three Day Virtual Journey’ enriched and empowered with ‘Literary Insights & Cultural Interactions’. The Chief Guest, Jonathan Kennedy, Director Arts India, British Council, will hold the inauguration on the 28th of January along with Jayesh Ranjan, IAS, Chairman of HLF.

This will be followed by commemorating Ajay Gandhi, the festival director and trustee of the HLF, by renowned vocalist TM Krishna. Then, you will have an opportunity to dig deeper into the ‘Artistic Universe’ defining the ‘Creative Spaces Within and Without’ by TM Krishna in conversation with Amita Desai. Then, the beautiful multi-layered narratives of the material, historical, and emotional culture of Amritsar will unfold its meaning and essence by Raghu Rai and Gurmeet S Rai in conversation with Usha Raman. Then a soft and inspiring touch of Kaavya Dhara at the end of the inauguration day through the poems of Nabaneeta Dev Sen in conversation with Chandana Chakrabarti.

So, the end of the first day will open new avenues and experiences for the following two precious days of the HLF.
