The End by Ganesh illustrated by Raaga Katta

Baptism by fire in Pakistan meant a legend was born.
November the 16th, 2013, the fire in his belly ran out to vagaries of time.
In between, he held the nation in his thrall,
he was the son, he was the brother you never had.
A nation prayed for him, a billion cheered him on,
when he walked out to bat, we forgot our good times and bad.

He inspired confidence and emotions in equal measure,
we lived our dreams through his willow.
In our minds, in our hearts, he can never be replaced,
Belatedly, I realize he has carried the nation for far too long,
it is his family now that he does belong.

About the Poet:
Ganesh, an avid traveler, has been published in many journals and takes the world of sports way too seriously. You can see him exploring the places and faces he meets on his journeys or catch him online here: rajgopalganesh@gmail.com and @guns_82.

About the Illustrator:
Raaga Katta is a former HR turned artist. She is world famous on insta as Grey Brains (@grey_brains). She is a comic artist who adds zindagi to dark, mundane, absurd, weird, funny and cute moments of life with her quirkiness. Her brain only looks at complex situations as stories. Her fictional characters are funnier than her, you'll never see them in real coz they ain't so trivial. Wanna admire her, be a follower. Wanna be her, join her comic making workshop.
